Matt Cardona: AEW Never Offered Me Anything Long-Term, I Wasn't Going To Beg

Matt Cardona made a surprise appearance on the July 29, 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite, aligning himself with his long-time friend Cody Rhodes.

Cardona would work two matches for the promotion, last appearing at AEW All Out in an eight-man tag team match. The original plan was always for Cardona to be on a short-term deal, and according to him, AEW never offered anything more.

"I had a little agreement to do a couple of shows and they never offered me anything long-term. I'm not going to sit there and beg. It is what it is. I had a great time there and it was an awesome experience. Everyone was welcoming and it was great. AEW is the place to be. It's thriving right now. At the end of the day, I wasn't offered anything and I wasn't going to sit around and wait," Cardona said on Pro Wrestling 4 Life with Sean Waltman.

Cardona has found a home in IMPACT Wrestling, though he remains on a handshake deal with the company as he enjoys the freedom to work elsewhere.

He is scheduled to face Nick Gage at GCW Homecoming on July 24.
