Matt Cardona On Having Options: I Can Be On NXT, I Could Be On Dynamite. I'd Love To Go To NJPW

Matt Cardona can't be bitter; he's focused on getting better.

Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, sparked some buzz by saying that he had not received an offer from WWE or AEW despite his successful run around the wrestling world that dates back to 2020. He has won titles in GCW, TNA, and NWA, and he continues to compete for both TNA and GCW. Cardona also had a brief AEW run, and he had a one-off return to the company in March 2024.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Matt Cardona discussed his latest evolution as "The Complete", as he called himself the total package.

“I’m the f------ total package. I know Lex Luger is ‘The Total Package’, but I know I can do it all. It’s something new, something fresh, and that’s why I am ‘The Complete.’ I’m here to reinvent myself and reinvent the whole independent scene," Cardona said.

After emphasizing his passion for wrestling, Cardona reiterated his stance that if someone from WWE or AEW called him, he would talk, but he was focused on getting better regardless. He made it clear that being bitter was never part of his mindset.

“If someone in WWE or AEW calls me, we’ll talk. But that’s not where I’m at. I am focused on making tomorrow better than today. I can’t be bitter. I’m too focused on being better," Cardona said.

Cardona went on to highlight how he had options, including potentially going to NXT, popping up in AEW, or having a run in NJPW. He also expressed his interest in wrestling JBL on the independent scene. No matter what, he stated that he would keep killing it.

“When I was in WWE, there was only so much I could control. Now I can control everything. Not everything is going to work, and I understand that. It’s why I’m dedicating my whole life to it. But I have all I’ve ever wanted–and that’s the opportunity. I can be on NXT on Tuesday. I could be on Dynamite on Wednesday. I would love to go to New Japan–there is a whole roster of people there I’ve yet to wrestle. I’m here to wrestle JBL on the indies–that’s a marquee matchup. No matter what, I’m going to keep killing it wherever I go–and give you something you’ve never seen before," Cardona said.
