Matt Cardona wants to face Bully Ray again, and he'd like to take him on in a tag team match.
Cardona and Ray have been engaged in a heated rivalry for a number of months. They traded shots on Twitter, and Cardona targeted Ray in promos, ahead of their match at the ECW Arena at Battleground Championship Wrestling's "A Tribute to the Extreme" event on December 17. Ray won that bout, but Cardona has his sights set on a rematch.
In an interview with Dominic DeAngelo for AdFreeShows, Cardona discussed his feud with Ray and recalled how the veteran was "extreme-shaming" him for not being a true ECW original. Cardona noted that he thinks he proved that he was hardcore when they clashed in December. He also made it clear that he wants to face Ray again, and he suggested a potential tag team match between Team 3DD (Bully Ray & D-Von Dudley) and the Major Players (Cardona and Brian Myers).
"Bully, he was living up to his name. He was bullying me online. He was extreme-shaming me, saying I wasn’t extreme, saying I wasn’t hardcore. I think, at the ECW Arena, I proved that I was. Was he victorious? Okay, fine. But yeah, the book is not over between Bully and Matt Cardona. We’ll see what’s next. I would love to get my hands on Bully again. Maybe now that D-Von’s free, maybe a little Dudley Boys, or Team 3D, we can’t call them Dudley Boys, Team 3D against the Major Players, Matt Cardona and Brian Myers. I’d love to see that," Cardona said.
D-Von Dudley retired from the ring in 2020. He announced his departure from WWE, where he had worked as a producer and a trainer, in January 2023.
