Matt Cardona: I'll Find My Path Back To WWE, But It's Not My Time Yet

Matt Cardona says it wasn't even a discussion for Chelsea Green about whether she had to go back to WWE. As for himself, he will find his path back there one day.

As a pair, Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green were a major act on the independent circuit for the last couple of years. However, Chelsea Green is now once again a WWE Superstar. Currently, she is on the Monday Night Raw roster and antagonizing Adam Pearce, threatening to call his manager every week.

While this is not Chelsea's first run in WWE, this is the first time she's actually been able to have an extended run with the company, as her initial time in WWE was cut short by injuries and releases.

Matt Cardona, formerly Zack Ryder, has a different WWE experience. After spending over a decade with the sports entertainment juggernaut, Cardona believed he could be a WWE lifer before his 2020 release.

Speaking on Casual Conversations with The Wrestling Classic, Cardona discussed his own desires to go back to the WWE, saying that while it's not his time right now, he will eventually find his path back to WWE.

"I would be lying if I said I never wanted to wrestle at Madison Square Garden again, Or I never wanted to have a WrestleMania moment again, or I never wanted to walk into Walmart and see my fucking Mattel Elite [action figure] on the shelves, of course. Yeah, of course, I do, but, I'm gonna find my path back there," he said. "Chelsea Green's back there now and when she got that offer, it wasn't even discussed. She was a crucial part of my act on the indies, a crucial part. She had to go back. She did not have a cup of coffee there. She had the little Keurig pod put into the machine. You didn't press brew, right? She had to go back and she's absolutely killing it now. I am so proud of her to see her on Monday Night Raw. They bring her to SmackDown. Maybe she'll have a WrestleMania match. I am so so proud of her, but it's not my time to go back yet."

He added, "If I got a 203 number, if the 203 number called me right now, of course, I'd have a discussion. Anyone who says otherwise is fucking lying."

In this interview, Cardona spoke about having Steph De Lander as a heater on the independent circuit now that his wife has returned to WWE. Read his comments here.

Cardona recently tried to trademark the Zack Ryder ring name, but WWE fought it. Fans can read his comments about that at this link.
