Matt Cardona: I Tried Getting 'Zack Ryder' Trademarked, I Got Denied

Matt Cardona offers an update on his trademark filing.

Cardona worked for WWE for many years. He made his main roster debut in 2007 under the name Brett Major, in 2007. He was later renamed Zack Ryder, and he enjoyed a successful, albeit inconsistent, run, as he won the United States, Intercontinental, and Tag Team Championships. WWE released Ryder in a wave of cuts in 2020, and he has since competed all over the wrestling world for promotions for GCW, IMPACT Wrestling, and NWA, among other promotions. He has won several titles, including the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship, the GCW World Championship, and the IMPACT Digital Media Championship.

In recent months, fans have speculated about Cardona potentially returning to WWE, as Triple H ahs brought back several stars who were previously released. Cardona filed to trademark "Zack Ryder" and his catchphrase, "Woo. Woo. Woo. You Know it," in January. In a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Cardona noted that he made those moves because he's "always ready", and he called himself a businessman.

In an update, Cardona stated that he did not get the trademark. Game Changer Wrestling announced that Cardona will face Nick Wayne at GCW Middle of the Night on February 18. Wayne responded by joking that he'd be taking on Zack Ryder. Cardona replied by revealing that the trademark request was denied. As a result, Wayne will be facing "The Indy God" and "The Deathmatch King", Matt Cardona.
