Matt Hardy is going to be in All Elite Wrestling for a little while longer!
As first reported by Fightful Select, Matt Hardy has re-upped with AEW. He confirmed the news during a stream on his Twitch channel.
"That morning talks opened up and literally ended up flying Jeff in later in the afternoon. He didn't get there until very, very late and he had to take a different route. He couldn't even fly into Fort Myers because it was all sold out. Flew into Tampa and got a car service to bring him down. It was wild, man. He got there late that day and started looking over the contract. It was so funny, he looked over and I'm like, 'I'm very happy too, I've extended my contract with AEW.' I'm going to be there a little while longer and they matched myself and Jeff's contracts up which was very cool. Jeff was like, 'Woah, this is so cool.' Skimmed through and was like, 'And you can still do outside appearances?' He said, 'Yeah.' I said, 'Papa Khan wants you to get all the money, you know what I mean? Papa Khan wants you to be healthy and happy.' So yeah, that was very cool," Matt said.
After being released by WWE in December 2021, Jeff Hardy officially joined AEW on the March 9 episode of Dynamite, saving his brother Matt Hardy, Sting, and Darby Allin from an attack by Andrade El Idolo, The Butcher, The Blade, and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen).
Matt also shared that Jeff was very nervous leading up to his appearance, but said that the AEW environment is much more laid back than that of WWE.
"Jeff was like a kid on the first day of school. He was so nervous, it was so funny. Because I mean it's also very different when you -- I feel like when you're at WWE the stresses, and how you almost have to walk around on eggshells, it's such a different environment there. AEW is so much more laid back. Even the creative process is so different, but it was very cool. He really seemed to enjoy it. He had a huge smile," he said.
