When Jeff Hardy signed with AEW in March, he was immediately reunited with his brother Matt as the duo were to begin what many considered to be their last big television run together.
They were set to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Titles in a ladder match on June 15 episode of AEW Dynamite in a three-way bout, but Jeff was arrested on multiple charges, including a DUI, on June 13. The Hardys were removed from the match and Jeff was suspended by the company until he completes a substance abuse program.
Speaking to Jon Alba on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt discussed what's next for him in AEW without his brother.
"As far as what I'm doing going forward, I'm sure I'll be doing something in some capacity on AEW. I'm going to change it up a little bit, tweak things a little bit and we'll try to make some magic happen," he said. "I look at it as a challenge, as an artist where there's really no timetable on what is happening. I had a great conversation with Tony Khan, just talking with him a little bit. We'll see. We have a few weeks to work on stuff. I'm excited for it. I look at it as a challenge, as opposed to looking at everything as a setback. Obviously, it's disappointing and heartbreaking that I'm not going to be teaming with my brother and we won't have this last great run, but I am going to make the most out of whatever opportunity I'm given. I will be positive and optimistic as always."
Matt was backstage at AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, but did not appear on television. The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) defeated Jurassic Express (Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy) in the ladder match to capture the AEW Tag Team Titles.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Matt discussed how Jeff is feeling following his arrest. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
