Matt Hardy: I'd Love To See Private Party Get A Run On Top In AEW

Matt Hardy talks Private Party.

At AEW WrestleDream, Private Party will challenge the Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. This match comes after Private Party earned a shot at the belts by defeating Top Flight and House Of Black on Saturday's AEW Collision.

The company's recent focus on Private Party has been praised by many fans, as some believe that the duo has been stagnant in recent months.

On the latest edition of The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, which was recorded before the October 5 edition of AEW Collision, Matt Hardy said that Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen have running in circles for nearly five years at this point.

“They’ve kinda just been on the treadmill, you know, like a hamster running in a circle for almost five years now. I would like to see them involved, I’d like to see them move forward, I’d like to see some aggression in their character and where their story is going. My fingers crossed for them, I know they’ve been pushing to do it for a while now.”

Hardy went on to tell Jon Alba that he'd love to see a run on top for Private Party.

“When a lot of people talk about Private Party, they refer back to when they beat the Young Bucks in an upset when AEW first started. That was the Young Bucks idea, they wanted to elevate this team, they to elevate teams. I know after that, Tony kind of pulled back on them and said, ‘Hey, we can’t be doing this all the time. It’s cool that you want to do it, but we’ve gotta keep you as our main team and focus of the tag team division.’ They would totally be willing to do it and I’d love to see a run with Private Party on top.”

Hardy then told Alba that Kassidy and Quen weren't ready to be the top team in the division when they defeated the Young Bucks back in 2019.

“No. No, they weren’t ready to be the top tag team and carry the division at all, but over time, they have learned and specifically Isiah. Isiah really is tuned in to what he needs to be doing nowadays and he has a good grasp, not only on what they do in the ring and how to execute the match, but how to perform as a character. He’s really on the post nowadays.”
