Matt Hardy finally unleashed the persona he cultivated on Impact Wrestling tonight on Raw. What started as an interview by Bray Wyatt turned into a back and forth promo between Wyatt and Hardy. The latter said that due to his condition, he had laid dormant in Matt Hardy. But thanks to the Consumer of Terrestrial Entities, he has become WOKEN:
As a unsuspecting Wyatt continued to ramble on, Hardy continued as well, saying that he sentenced him to deletion, using the trademark gestures known with the Broken Matt Hardy persona.
Ever since leaving Impact earlier this year, there was always the question if the Hardys would go on to WWE in their "broken" personas. Matt has shown hints of it, but was never fully into the gimmick until tonight.
He and Impact Wrestling spent most of the year facing road blocks from Anthem, who laid claim to the Broken characters, despite Matt Hardy coming up with the idea and using characters that were not under Impact Wrestling contract. The problem seems to have been recently settled, as Impact is allowing people to retain control of their names and characters regardless if they are under contract or not.
