Matt Menard wanted to use some colorful language on AEW TV, and he got away with it.
"Daddy Magic" is known for his unique promos, as he often talks about what makes his nipples hard. On the January 7, 2022, episode of AEW Rampage, in an interview ahead of his match, he raised some eyebrows when he said, "Suck my ass."
Speaking on The Daddy Magic Show, Menard noted that he wasn't sure if he could say "pervert" on TV before he recalled the time he wanted to say "suck my ass" in a promo. He described how the subject went right to Tony Khan, and when they realized the phrase wasn't on the list of banned terms, he was allowed to say it.
“I remember another time, ‘suck my ass’, I wanted to get on TV. I actually got it on. That was a struggle because we have a list of stuff that we’re not supposed to say. I remember this right to Tony [Khan], ‘Suck my ass, is that okay?’ So they’re going through the list, and it’s not on the list. ‘Suck my ass’, not on the list. I guess you can say it. So I said it. This is like early January 2022. I remember we were in New Jersey, in the Street Fight, me, Jeff, Garcia against [Santana and Ortiz] and Eddie Kingston. Go back and watch that, the Mark Henry, ‘It’s time for the main event’ promo, yeah, I say, ‘Suck my ass.’ I remember saying it, and CM Punk walking by, and he was just dying. He’s like, ‘Did you just say suck my ass?’ You’re damn right I did," Menard said.
When asked, Menard noted that he thinks the phrase is now on the banned list.
Saraya previously got fined for saying one of the banned words in a promo. Check out her comments here.
Menard and The Butcher recently lost to MJF and Adam Cole in the Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament on the July 5 episode of AEW Dynamite.
