Matt Sydal plans on wrestling for Ring Of Honor once more and wants to be a champion.
Appearing on the ROHStrong podcast, Sydal spoke at length about his career, which included stops at Ring Of Honor and when the topic of his future was touched on, Sydal said he will be returning to the company to compete in a tournament to crown a new ROH Pure Champion. Details on the tournament, its participants and dates have yet to be revealed.
"Ring Of Honor is putting something together very special and I am honored to announce that I will be a participant of the Ring Of Honor Pure Title Tournament. Details on the tournament and who's coming are upcoming and I don't know what else is going but they asked me if I was willing to participate and be a part of this ground-breaking, revolutionary tournament and I thought, 'Oh, yeah. Give me this challenge,'" Sydal said.
Sydal, a former ROH World Tag Team Champion, last wrestled for the company in 2017 when he unsuccessfully challenged for the ROH World TV Title against Marty Scurll. Sydal was supposed to wrestle for ROH this year at the Past vs. Present show but that was postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The ROH Pure Title Tournament, like the Past vs. Present show, was put on hold due to the pandemic. On the most recent episode of ROH Week By Week, David Finlay cut a promo stating his interest in becoming the new ROH Pure Champion.
