Michael Oku Confirms 'There Has Been Contact Made' With AEW About What They Can Potentially Do In The Future

Michael Oku confirms Fightful report.

RevPro star Michael Oku is one of the top wrestlers in the United Kingdom. He appeared at AEW All In 2023, as he was a security guard for the weigh-in with Miro and Powerhouse Hobbs. Oku later faced Will Ospreay in the latter's final RevPro match before he joined AEW. More recently, Oku challenged MJF for the AEW American Championship at AEW Summer Sizzler. Corey Brennan of Fightful Select reported that Oku and Amira are "suspected" for the Cardiff Dynamite taping on August 21st and AEW All In at Wembley Stadium, and an announcement is expected.

In an interview with Stephanie Chase, Michael Oku was asked about the report.

“I’m trying to find the right way to answer this. I think that’s the most I can confirm, is that there’s been contact made, which obviously makes sense. I wrestled Will earlier in the year in front of Tony Khan. I got to meet Tony Khan and have a conversation with him there at the venue as it happened. This match happens with MJF, they’ve posted my promo on their channels. They’re promoting this, so there’s been contact to allow these things to happen with AEW, so there’s been contact of what we can potentially do in the future. I’ll leave it there," Oku said.

Oku was then asked to describe his ideal scenario, and he stated that he wanted to compete at AEW All In. He quipped that he could have won the AEW American Championship, as MJ and Ospreay could have competed in a non-title match. Oku also highlighted the Casino Gauntlet match as a possibility.

"Wembley Stadium. In my head, I was like, it would be cool if I won this title. They have a non-title, they don’t need the title, and I wrestle someone for the title at Wembley Stadium. But I would love to have a step-up from last year. It was cool to experience being around all the boys and girls in the back, to do something, to be involved and have some kind of role in the show, but I feel like I’ve made enough of a name of myself in this country that if a big show’s happening in this country and there’s enough of a crossover with the AEW fans, at least the UK fans, that there would be some interest to see me do something, if it’s small, but a wrestling capacity, as Michael Oku, as me the wrestler on the show. So hey, there’s a Casino Gauntlet as well. There could be surprises there, and I would be very happy if my music as well plays. That’ll be very cool if my music plays at Wembley Stadium," Oku said.

Fightful will provide more information as it becomes available.
