Michael Oku: If UK Wrestlers Are Going To Be At AEW's Wales Debut, I Feel Like I Should Be One Of Them

Michael Oku wants to be a part of AEW's upcoming shows in the United Kingdom.

RevPro Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion Michael Oku is one of the top stars in the British wrestling scene. He made an appearance at AEW All In 2023, as he was one of the security guards for the contract signing with Miro and Powerhouse Hobbs. Oku has continued to gain momentum ever since, and he recently wrestled for CMLL.

Three-Way Trios Bout Added To AEW All Out Zero Hour

Speaking with Mark O'Brien for WrestleMobs (via Irish Wrestling & Entertainment), Oku was asked whether there was any chance he would be at AEW All In 2024. During his response, he stated that he wanted to be on AEW's upcoming Dynamite/Collision taping in Cardiff on August 21st.

“That’s what I want to do. I would love to try my best to be in a better position if I do turn up. Just so I could measure, so it’s a way that I can measure that I’m going in an upward trajectory. When I was on Mark Andrews's podcast, they were like, ‘What’s your prediction for the next year?’ My prediction was to wrestle in front of more than 10,000 people because that’s how I’d measure that I’m going in an upward trajectory. So the same thing for All In. I wouldn’t want to just be security again because then it’d feel like I haven’t really gone anywhere, at least in the eyes of those who are in charge of AEW. I think I’ve already done enough, but my goal is to make sure that it wouldn’t make sense if Michael Oku was a security guard. We talk about Chris Jericho, when I was in his podcast, AEW announced that they were doing to do a show in the UK. I think it was London. Nobody knew what the venue was gonna be, so most people were probably assuming that they’re coming down to do a Dynamite and Collision taping, and he said, ‘Oh, guaranteed, you’ll be on the show. You’ll wrestle, guaranteed.’ Because he assumed it’d be that. Well, they are doing a Dynamite and Collision taping in Wales. So nothing is confirmed, but I feel like if UK wrestlers are gonna be on that show wrestling, I feel like I should be one of them," Oku said.

As Oku noted, Jericho said that he would be on AEW's show in London before it turned out to be AEW All In. More information is available here.
