During Labor Day weekend, WWE and AEW held post-show press conferences with wildly different results.
Following WWE Clash at the Castle, WWE's press conference included Roman Reigns asking the media to acknowledge him before leaving followed by Seth Rollins, Gunther, Liv Morgan, and Triple H answering questions. Following AEW All Out, AEW's press conference included CM Punk airing his frustrations with Colt Cabana, The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks), & Hangman Page, which led to a backstage altercation between Punk, Ace Steel, and The Elite.
Press conferences have become commonplace in AEW since the inception of the company while WWE has dabbled in press conferences and media calls, notably when Triple H was running NXT, over the years.
Speaking to Steve Fall of NBC Sports, Mick Foley was asked about doing press conferences while he was still active.
"I would have loved to have the opportunity to address the media after the matches. I think it's something that had been missing. Of course, the latest one in AEW turned out a little unusual in a way that might not be good for business, but I like the idea of Roman Reigns talking to the press after a big victory. I think it gives that added touch to what we do," he said.
Foley now hosts his own podcast Foley is Pod on AdFreeShows where he discusses his career and some current topics in wrestling.
