Mike Santana is hungrier than ever, and he's having fun.
Mike Santana returned to TNA at TNA Rebellion. The four-time IMPACT World Tag Team Champion had been with AEW since 2019, but he started a new chapter of his career upon his return to TNA. He has been rising up the ranks as a singles competitor, and he continues to chase the world title.
Speaking with PWMania.com’s Scott Mitchell, Mike Santana was asked to discuss his run since his return to TNA.
“For me, it was definitely a big homecoming. TNA is a place I always considered my home. I’ve been able to grow a lot there, even during my first run, I grew a lot as a performer and learned so much. To be back there at the level I’m at with my experience now, it’s been an awesome ride honestly. Getting to work with someone like Maclin when I first came in, he’s an awesome wrestler and an awesome human being. He was the perfect first opponent. I only have one speed, and when I’m in the ring, I’m ready to go. He’s the same way, and our intensity matched each other. Especially that night, we both felt like we had something to prove, it was awesome. It’s been awesome all the way until now. I’ve been doing it my way, working with some awesome people, and that was the whole reason I bet on myself. I was going to do it my way, bet on myself, and do things the way I want to do them. It’s been paying off, it’s been awesome, and I’ve been having the most fun I’ve ever had in my career. The best is yet to come. There’s still so much to go and it’s only going to get better," Santana said.
Mike Santana was also asked to discuss competing as a singles star, and he highlighted the stacked roster. He expressed his excitement about working with TNA's great wrestlers, and he said that he was hungrier than ever. Santana also made it clear that he's aiming for the world title.
“Man, if you take a look at the roster, it’s stacked. We have some of the best wrestlers in the world here at TNA. The fact that I’m going to be able to mix it up with them, and get to better myself is awesome. I always say, the only way to be a better wrestler is to work with better wrestlers. I can’t wait man. It’s been awesome. I’m hungrier than ever and I’m ready to take someone’s spot. I can care less if someone takes offense to that. This is business now. I said that with me coming back to wrestling, I’m coming back to be the absolute best, and I told myself I will be world champion. That is the ultimate goal. I’m a firm believer of speaking things into existence. Not only that, I’m putting in the work, and I’m going to continue to put in the work until I get there. It’s been pretty special," Santana said.
