Cody Rhodes bet it all on his match with Chris Jericho. He promised on the most recent episode of Dynamite that if he didn't win, he would never challenge for the AEW World Championship again. With stakes so high, perhaps he should’ve picked a different cornerman.
Following what was a bloody bout for the youngest of the Rhodes wrestlers, MJF threw in the towel as Cody Rhodes was trapped inside a Liontamer. This was seemingly out of love and concern for his "best friend's" well-being.

This would effectively end Cody Rhodes' chances that ever becoming World Champion in the promotion that he started. At first, Maxwell showing a lot of emotion, appearing very hurt by the decision he had to make. that all changed when he decided to kick Cody Rhodes in the groin.
With a cackle, it was finally revealed, MJF had finally turned his back on Cody. As he made his way up the ramp, a fan threw their drink at the "Salt of the Earth."

Cody would sit in the ring, dejected, as the realization that he could no longer challenge for the World Championship sunk in and now, he has a new target in All Elite Wrestling.
