The finish saw MJF catch Cole with a roll up after Cole refused to hit MJF with the AEW World Title that was given to him Roderick Strong.

Originally, the match ended in a double pin after both men hit a clothesline, and Cole asked for five more minutes. MJF denied the request, saying they were going until there was a winner. After the restart, Bryce Remsburg was knocked down, leading to a double down spot with a chair as MJF outsmarted Cole by wrapped the chair around his own neck. MJF took advantage with a roll up, but Cole kicked out.

Moments later, Cole hit Bryce with the Panama Sunrise after MJF pulled him in the way. Roderick Strong go involved, kicking MJF in the dick leading to Cole hitting the Boom knee. However, due to Bryce being incapacitated, MJF was able to recover and kick out. Cole was then given the title by Strong, leading to the finish.

After the match, MJF tried to console Cole by handing him the ROH Tag Team Titles, but Cole tossed his aside. MJF got upset, feeling Cole only cared about the AEW World Title. He handed Cole the title and told Cole to hit him with the belt, but Cole once again refused and hugged MJF to close the show.

On the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF and Cole went to a 30-minute time limit draw. After the match, Cole asked for more time, but MJF walked away. The two men were paired up during the AEW Tag Team Blind Eliminator Tournament, kicking off the friendship of the summer. Cole & MJF failed to win the AEW Tag Team Tiltes from FTR, but Cole earned himself an AEW World Title shot at AEW All In and MJF earned himself a best friend.

During the AEW All In Zero Hour pre-show, Cole & MJF won the ROH Tag Team Championships by defeating Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher).
