After the bout, MVP praised Barnett for opening the door for him in the world of grappling years ago. MVP said that he thought he was ready to test Barnett after he got his black belt in jiu-jitsu, but admitted there are "levels to this shit."

MVP said he would go back to the lab to work, "and we'll do this again."

Barnett said that MVP has grown exponentially since the first time they grappled. Barnett said MVP would be unstoppable in AEW with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin by his side.

Barnett closed by issuing an open challenge for The People vs. GCW at Hammerstein Ballroom.

This was MVP's first bout since July 2022 when he teamed with Omos against The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) on an episode of WWE Raw.
