At WWE Royal Rumble 2020, MVP made a surprising return, appearing in the Men's Royal Rumble. The next night on WWE Raw, he took on his old friend Rey Mysterio in singles competition. While MVP didn't fare well in the Rumble or the next night on Raw, it was still a memorable couple of nights for him as his son got to see him wrestle.
Speaking to Corey Graves on WWE After The Bell, MVP revealed who helped facilitate his return.
"It arose from a conversation with Paul Heyman. My son is five years old and he's become a massive wrestling fan. As he calls it 'WW Wrestling.' First, it was 'Daddy Fight.' He's got the ring and action figures and with the Rumble being in Houston, where I reside, I thought 'what a great opportunity to give my son the memory of a lifetime.' Talking to Paul Heyman, it all came together."
When asked how his son felt while watching him, MVP replied, "He was overwhelmed by the Rumble. Afterward, he was able to meet his favorite wrestler, Rey Mysterio. I was very fortunate his mother and sister took footage of him watching me wrestling Rey and at the Rumble. He's ready for another 'WW Wrestling' show. He can't wait to get back and feel the energy."
MVP revealed that his match against Mysterio would be his last WWE match. He has not officially retired but did mention on After The Bell that he would like to work as a backstage producer. You can find his full comments on his future by clicking here.
