New AEW World Champion Crowned At Full Gear 2021

The AEW World Championship has changed hands!

After some time away, Adam 'Hangman' Page returned to AEW programming last month, winning the Casino Ladder Match and earning himself an AEW World Title opportunity in the process. The match, which took place tonight at Full Gear, was against his former friend and tag team partner, Kenny Omega.

Hangman, one of AEW's first signings, who said he would be the promotion's inaugural Champion, lost to Chris Jericho at All Out 2019, failing to fulfill his proclamation.

Omega won the belt on the December 2, 2020, Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite, defeating Jon Moxley with the help of Don Callis.

In the main event of Full Gear, Omega's title reign came to an end as Hangman Page pinned him to become the new AEW World Champion. The match came to a close after Matt and Nick Jackson came to ringside and didn't interfere with Page hitting back-to-back Buckshot Lariats. After the bell, Hangman celebrated his victory with the Dark Order, turning down a beer for a hug with friends.
