A new Strong Survivor has been crowned.

At NJPW Strong Style Evolved on December 15, Matt Vandagriff faced Zane Jay on the Kickoff Show. They battled it out in a hard-fought match. Jay ultimately scored the win by making Vandagriff tap out to the Boston Crab.

As a result of the win, Zane Jay became the second-ever NJPW Strong Survivor. The broadcast team noted that, due to the loss, Vandagriff no longer had a guaranteed spot on NJPW Strong cards.

Vandagriff previously won Strong Survivor at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed in October 2023 and successfully defended it ever since. He beat Jay to retain at NJPW Windy City Riot in April.

Zane Jay has trained at the NJPW Academy, and he has competed at their NJPW Academy Showcase events. He has also wrestled for DEFY and West Coast Pro.
