Kushida has conquered Santos Escobar, becoming the new NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
Escobar was feeling very confident after becoming the Undisputed NXT Cruiserweight Champion at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver by defeating Jordan Devlin in a ladder match. So confident that he was willing to put his NXT Cruiserweight Title on the line in an open challenge.
Kushida answered the open challenge and got the better of Escobar to win the NXT Cruiserweight Title.
The finish saw the two men counter a series of pinfalls and rollups before Kushida was able to leverage his weight on top of Escobar for the victory.
