Niall Fox Reflects On Some Of The Biggest Bumps He's Taken As A Referee

Niall Fox details some of the biggest bumps he has taken as a referee.

The life of a pro wrestling referee is a dangerous one for many, with referee's not being immune to taking bumps at the hands of the wrestlers they officiate. This is a trope of wrestling that has become even more prevalent on the independent wrestling scene, including in Over The Top Wrestling. Over the years, Niall "Foxy" Fox has been involved in several big time spots, including previously taking a shotgun dropkick from current WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther.

While speaking to Fightful's Corey Brennan in a recent interview, Foxy reflected on some of the biggest bumps he's taken.

"There's been a fair few over the years. So it was a few years back, I got a shotgun dropkick from Walter, like Gunther, or Walter at the time. People thought I died. So like things like that I am, I'm, as I said earlier, like I'm very, very happy to like, if it adds to the match or like, if you need me to, to do this, if it really helps, then absolutely. The big difference between a wrestler and a referee is that the referee is almost a... he's almost a proxy for.. he's not like the wrestlers where he can bounce back a bit easier from these big hits. I have to die. And that's a great benefit. If I can make you react in a way that's like... oh no, that was nasty. Or like, ah, like, is he okay? Like check on him like that that helps and i i love being able to do that. Uh, again, the old wrestler brain is just like chasing, chasing that reaction and chasing the, the, the way they, that kind of tempo. But obviously the shotgun drop kick, i've been hit by a chair by Mark Haskins. That wasn't nice. Uh, uh, what else? I've been put through a door in Wolverhampton. Uh, not as bad as i thought, like, but the super kick beforehand hurt like. I've had a lot of bumps over the years and it just, again, too many to, too many to kind of recall, to be honest. That's why I purposely put it out in the ether. If someone can put a compilation of all the times you've seen me take a bump or a fall, please send it to me because I want to see that."

Foxy will undoubtedly be the official at ScrapperMania 8 in August, with Danhausen being announced for the show earlier today. You can read more about that here.
