Nigel McGuinness reflects on working with legends of pro wrestling broadcasting, such as Michael Cole and Tony Schiavone.

Nigel McGuinness was once a great professional wrestler with top runs in TNA and ROH. After his retirement, he forged a new path as a commentator. Nigel began working in WWE alongside Michael Cole as part of the WWE United Kingdom Title Tournament in 2017. He would stick around in WWE NXT for a few years before joining AEW in 2023, where he works regularly with another wrestling legend, Tony Schiavone,

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Nigel McGuinness credited Michael Cole with teaching him a lot, but he also credited his current position in AEW with giving him more freedom.

“I learned a lot working under Michael Cole,” said McGuinness. “I developed my style and added to it in AEW, where we have much more free rein. I can really be myself, and to work with Tony Schiavone, who is an institution, is a blessing.”

Nigel McGuinness also recently offered comments on potentially working with Bryan Danielson for one more match. McGuinness says it's the one match that interests him in coming out of retirement. Read more here.
