At NWA PowerrrTrip, Matt Cardona defeated Trevor Murdoch and won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.
Almost immediately, Matt Cardona was met with his first Challenger the man most associated with this generation of the NWA, Nick Aldis. Nick Aldis challenged the new champion and he will face him at the Crockett Cup which will take place over the course of two days, March 19 and March 20, 2022.

Aldis previously held the title twice, his second reign lasted 1,043 days before Murdoch beat him at NWA 73. His first Reign ended at the hands of Cody Rhodes before he gained the championship back at NWA 70.
