During the August 28 episode of WWE Raw, NXT Women;s Champion Tiffany Stratton was shown in the crowd. Stratton did not get involved in the show, but her on-screen appearance sparked some buzz, given a recent exchange she had with Becky Lynch.

Stratton cut a promo on the August 22 episode of WWE NXT, and she stated that she would be a better NXT Women's Champion than Bayley, Charlotte Flair, Asuka, and Becky Lynch. The line raised some eyebrows, as Lynch has never held the NXT Women's Championship. In a backstage interview, Stratton commented on the situation by noting that Lynch was "irrelevant."
Lynch then took to Twitter and stated that she hadn't won the NXT Women's Championship yet. Her message led some fans to wonder whether she could potentially face Stratton at some point. As a result, Stratton's appearance on WWE Raw, where Lynch faced Zoey Stark, was especially noteworthy, though she didn't cross paths with Lynch on-screen.
