Nyla Rose talks about who she wants to see join AEW's women's roster.
Nyla Rose has been a staple of AEW’s women's roster from day one. Early in the company’s existence, Joshi wrestlers were a huge part of the roster. The first champion was Riho and in the early days, Tony Khan said he believed that the Joshi wrestlers could be for AEW what the luchadors and cruiserweights were to WCW in the 90s.
As time has gone on, the roster has changed and there has been more openness with the new concept of “The Forbidden Door.” Speaking to Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Nyla Rose named who she would like to see from different promotions join AEW’s women's roster and had one talent in particular in mind for a Forbidden Door crossover, an old partner and rival, Takumi Iroha.
“There's quite a few people out there and they've kind of scratch to added, we've been able to get a couple of people that I think would make excellent additions coming through on AEW Dark, getting a chance to shine, and a few of them have been back here and there,” she said. “Trish Adora, Amber Rodriguez, Sahara Seven, some really good people. But if we are talking ‘Forbidden Door’ I would say one of my old running buddies/tag partners/rivals, Takumi Iroha from Marvelous in Japan and I've had some pretty knock-down-drag-out bangers in Japan, let's bring back to the States. Let's get the spotlight on some of that.”
There is an upcoming Forbidden Door event that will be exclusively for AEW and New Japan men's Superstars. However, there is room for a potential crossover with the women of AEW and STARDOM down the line. Learn more here.
