In 2017, The OC (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson) called out the Rock N Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) for a match at WWE Starrcade.
The challenge was even covered on WWE.com.
The bout never came to fruition.
"We know what happened," Gallows said on Talk N' Shop. "It's no secret, it's not bad on anybody, it was the fact that we pitched it. We pitched it, not hard, but we pitched it hard. Then, Ricky Morton heard about it and he was all for it. He was talking about it online and stuff. I think, internally, their worry was -- you have to give WWE all the credit in the world for this -- the medical staff and safety of everybody, they didn't see how they would be able to pass the medical testing to do one night with us. We thought it would be really fun. We ended up having a fun Starrcade match.
"We sent it to Michael (Hayes) a couple of times. We didn't completely shut us down on it. We were like, 'Can we do it or not?' They were like, 'We would love for you to do it, but....'"
The Rock N Roll Express were part of the Starrcade event, but did not wrestle.
Gallows & Anderson did work with Morton & Gibson at a Lariato Pro event.
