Two matches official for Wrestle Kingdom 14.
At a press conference on Tuesday, NJPW confirmed Kazuchika Okada will defend his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Kota Ibushi in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 14 on Jan. 4. Ibushi earned his title shot by winning the G1 Climax 29, defeating Okada to win A Block before besting Jay White in the finals. Ibushi defended his G1 briefcase against KENTA at Destruction in Kagoshima and EVIL at King of Pro Wrestling. Meanwhile, Okada avenged his G1 loss against SANADA at King of Pro Wrestling, setting up the rematch with Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 14. There will be no more IWGP Heavyweight Title or G1 Briefcase defenses prior to their clash on Jan. 4.
Okada went on to state that he is willing to defend the IWGP Heavyweight Title on both nights of Wrestle Kingdom 14, should he defeat Ibushi on Jan. 4. Night two will be held on Jan. 5.
