Pat McAfee Explains Why He Missed WWE Hell In A Cell, Congratulates Cody Rhodes

Pat McAfee explains why he was not in the building for WWE Hell in a Cell 2022 and commends Cody Rhodes for wrestling a full Hell in a Cell match with a torn pectoral muscle.

At WWE Hell in a Cell, Cody Rhodes went into the titular match against Seth Rollins with a torn pectoral muscle. Instead of phoning it in or quickly being written off with an injury angle, Cody Rhodes competed for nearly half an hour with the injury in a match that included sledgehammers, tables, a bull rope, and Cody Rhodes utilizing a Pedigree.

On his show, Pat McAfee praised Cody Rhodes for not only going into the magic injured but for giving it 110% for the audience.

"A man last night went into Hell in a Cell with a torn tit," McAfee began. "Cody Rhodes went in there...a lot of people thought it was makeup, that’s what your body does when you tear your shit. Early, it looked like he was in a shit ton of pain. but he clicked into some of ‘I don’t give up fuck’ because unless they shot that thing up with everything you can shoot up with, which would hurt so bad, just the shooting up of it, a full Hell in a Cell match. They didn’t mail it in either. This shit was a full match. Seth Rollins lost to a guy with one fucking tit. I assume he’s getting surgery."

As for why he missed the event, Pat McAfee says that with there being only one official SmackDown-branded match on the card, all parties involved agree that there was no need for him to fly out to Chicago just to call one match. Michael Cole, the typical play-by-play broadcaster on Friday night, was instead joined by Corey Graves to call the match between Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin.

"I was not at Hell in a Cell, SmackDown only had one match and all parties agreed that it was probably not worth the trip to Chicago and back for that. It ended up being a 13-minute match," Pat said, before immediately returning his attention to Cody wrestling hurt. "As soon as [Cody] took his jacket off, there were reports hitting the internet about somebody's injury, oh, Cody Rhodes is injured, I thought it was all work, especially going into Hell in a Cell. I thought it was something to set up something. When he took his jacket off...that must have hurt so bad. Congrats, Cody. That’ll be a toughness conversation fodder forever. Good for him."
