Paul Heyman reveals "The Island."
For the first time, WWE 2K25 will introduce a new mode: "The Island." This online open-world experience, similar to how "The City" works in NBA 2K, will be unique to wrestling games. Few details about the new mode were known until February 12.
That all changed when Paul Heyman appeared in the Sony State of Play presentation in the trailer, which revealed the new mode. Heyman touted that this new mode would feature up to 50 players at a time, live events, and more.
"With The Island, players enter an online environment filled with WWE-themed landmarks, quests, live events, and shops with up to 50 other players at a time. The Island also offers deep customization, giving players the chance to personalize their MySuperstars like never before. As the first of its kind for the franchise, The Island is not just an addition; it's a bold step toward the future," Heyman stated.
The trailer also showed previews of Superstar-themed attractions based on Roman Reigns, Rhea Ripley, and others. Check out the full trailer in the video embedded at the top of this page.
Innovation comes at a price, and this mode will only be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. More details will be released soon. The game will be released on March 14, and players who pre-ordered the deluxe editions will get access on March 7.
