Paul Wight Likens Powerhouse Hobbs' Intensity To Brock Lesnar And Goldberg's

Paul Wight addresses Powerhouse Hobbs and the intensity he brings.

Wight and Hobbs have been going toe to toe since Chris Jericho introduced his very large friend on the November 1st edition of AEW Dynamite. On the November 15th episode, Wight and Hobbs both took place in an eight man tag street fight that also served as a sponsorship tie in for the upcoming release of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

In the match, Hobbs would slam the giant onto a car hood in one of the more memorable moments in the hectic matchup.

Prior to the match, Paul Wight spoke to TMZ about Hobbs and was asked if Hobbs reminds him of himself thirty years ago. Wight would respond noting that while it may sound arrogant, he doesn't feel there are many people like him.

“This probably sounds super arrogant. I don’t think there’s been many people like me. But I think I see the same fire and intensity and ability to connect with the audience. Hobbs is a very powerful, explosive, intense individual. There’s been many guys like that that I’ve seen in our business, from Goldberg, who had that intensity, to Brock Lesnar, who had that intensity. Then you have a guy like Hobbs, who has a lot of the same characteristics of someone who won’t go around you, he’ll go through you. So for me, being in the business as long as I have, I can understand that and appreciate that and you want to develop that and make that grow."

Hobbs and the remainder of the Don Callis family would lose the matchup on Wednesday's show, with Hobbs being taped to the top rope as Kenny Omega would pin Brian Cage for the victory.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Wight expressed his excitement heading into the eight man street fight. You can read more here.
