Penelope Ford is ready for her moment.
Tonight is the night that the National Wrestling Alliance will present their 70th Anniversary Show live from the 'Tennessee State Fairgrounds Arena' in Nashville. There are eight matches currently set for the show with the main event being a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls match between Nick Aldis and Cody for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship. A new holder of the NWA National Heavyweight Championship will be crowned by the end of the night, Tim Storm and Peter Avalon will do battle and "The Shenom" Jazz is defending her NWA World Women's Championship against "The Bad Girl" Penelope Ford.
Ford is normally flanking or being flanked by her boyfriend and former WWN Champion Joey Janela as the two compete in inter-gender matches on the independent wrestling scene together. But Penelope has a number of singles matches under her belt as well and she is hoping that her upcoming singles match results in her obtaining her first singles title in her wrestling career. Ford was interviewed by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated prior to her her match and Ford shared that she is nervous heading into the bout but is also ready for this big opportunity.
“This is a huge opportunity,” said Ford. “I’m going to show Jazz something she’s never experienced before with my gymnastics background. I’m nervous but I’m ready."
"The Bad Girl" has put in a lot of work coming into tonight's show and she detailed that work when she stated that she drives an hour just to train in the ring for two hours and come tonight, she is set to showcase her skills.
“I drive an hour to training and then train for two hours,” said Ford. “There is a lot more to me than what is on the outside, and I’m going to show that on Sunday.”
