Pete Dunne wants to face AJ Styles.

Former NXT UK Champion Pete Dunne has had a prominent run on WWE SmackDown. In recent months, he has been teaming up with Tyler Bate as New Catch Republic. Moving forward, he has his sights set on a dream match.

Speaking with Bill Apter for Sportskeeda WrestleBinge, Pete Dunne was asked to name his dream match in WWE, and he pointed to AJ Styles.

“I wrestled him recently in a four-way, but I grew up admiring AJ Styles a lot. I was a big fan of his independent stuff at that time, and that early TNA stuff. We had the Wrestling Channel back in the UK, and he was on it a lot. So he was somebody that I looked up [to] a lot," Dunne said.

Dunne was then asked to describe what made Styles phenomenal. He praised the veteran's in-ring skills and reiterated that he was a big inspiration for him, and he wants to face AJ in a singles match.

"I think for me, he’s pretty jacked, but in the industry, he’s that undersized guy, but he has that attitude he talked about. He’s hostile in the ring, he’s aggressive, he had that. On top of that, he had all the flair stuff, the spiral tap, all the flips and that kind of stuff. He was just a big inspiration on me, and I wrestled him in a four-way recently, but obviously, I’d like to get that one-on-one match at some point, would be fantastic," Dunne said.

AJ Styles is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Backlash. Fans will have to wait and see whether Styles and Dunne will be on the same brand after the WWE Draft.
