Pete Dunne Defeats Zack Gibson To Retain The WWE United Kingdom Championship

"The Bruiserweight" reigns on.

The second-annual WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament aired yesterday afternoon on the WWE Network and it featured some of the top talents from the U.K. wrestling scene competing to determine who will be the next man to challenge Pete Dunne for his coveted WWE United Kingdom Championship.

Outlasting the other participants in the tournament was "Liverpool’s No. 1." and current PROGRESS Tag Team Champion Zack Gibson. Gibson would become the winner of the 2018 WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament but his task was not yet complete and to fulfill his journey he had to best Pete Dunne who has held on to the WWE U.K. Title for over a year now.

The two Englishmen battled it out inside of the historic 'Royal Albert Hall' over the WWE United Kingdom Championship and to establish who will be the individual to represent the new NXT U.K. brand as its top champion. The conclusion of the match saw a determined and battered Pete Dunne execute his "Bitter End" finishing maneuver to put Gibson down for the three count and to roll on as WWE United Kingdom Champion.

Following the match, NXT founder and senior producer Triple H accompanied by NXT U.K. GM Johnny Saint and the talent who competed during the two-day WWE U.K. Championship tournament event made their way out to the stage to give a proper send off to the fans inside of 'Royal Albert Hall'.
