Randy Orton is the Greatest Wrestler Ever.
In the main event of WWE Backlash, Randy Orton defeated Edge in what was billed as The Greatest Match Ever. Edge survived multiple RKOs in the match, but Orton was able to put him away with his infamous Punt, which was accompanied by a leg slap.
Throughout the match, Edge and Orton provided plenty of moments and callbacks including a chop battle ala Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat, Eddie Guerrero's Three Amigos, Kurt Angle's Olympic Slam, Christian's Unprettier/Killswitch, Triple H's Pedigree, The Rock's Rock Bottom, Orton being busted open, and Orton dropping an F bomb.
The match began with the old Madison Square Garden microphone set hanging from the ceiling while the voice of the late Howard Finkel provided the introductions.
The bout combined cinematic elements that wrestling has fallen in love with over the match two months with different camera angles and cuts while also piping in crowd noise liven things up beyond the PC recruits standing behind plexiglass.

The match was taped last Sunday ahead of NXT TakeOver: In Your House. As reported by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select on Sunday afternoon Edge sustained a triceps injury while filming the match last Sunday. His injury is thought to be a torn triceps, but that has not been confirmed by Edge, WWE, or doctors. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports the injury occurred during one of the re-shoots for the match. It is unknown how long Edge will be out of action.
