This is the fifth edition of the RCW World Cup, which was held for the first time in 2016 coinciding with the presence of the Japanese company Stardom in Europe, and specifically in Barcelona. In this first edition, Io Shirai, now Iyo Sky in WWE, was proclaimed champion, defeating the AEW wrestler, Toni Storm, in the final, and wrestlers such as Santana Garrett from the United States or Kay Lee Ray, now Alba Fyre in WWE, also participated.
The second edition of the World Cup would be held a year later and this time there would not be an individual champion but the main event was a match to crown the first female tag team champions of the company, the winners being Kasey and Leah Owens, from Ireland, after defeating Oedo Tai, formed by Kagetsu & Thunder Rosa.
'After a five-year hiatus due to the pandemic and a halt in event production by RCW, the company brought back the tournament in 2022 to crown the company's new women's champion in the tournament. The victory went to the British, Nightshade, who defeated Aurora Teves and Maya Yukihi in the final in a three-way match.
Last year, the fourth edition of the tournament was held, with the victory of the first Spanish wrestler, Sara León, who defeated JC Storm in the quarterfinals, Nina Samuels in the semifinals, and Aurora Teves in the final. In this edition, wrestlers such as Amale, Alexia Nicole, and Rebecca Scott were present.
