Renee Young said that having her relationship with Dean Ambrose in the public eye certainly is challenging... especially for her other half.
Young discussed that and more in an appearance on a recent episode of the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast.
"It's funny having people care about your relationship," she said. "We have sort of like a funny juxtaposition where I talk to everybody about everything all the time. I don't really consider myself a very private person, but he's the polar opposite. So it's finding that balance of what people can see, what people can't see."
Ambrose's desire to stay private was tested when Young was part of the cast for a prior season of Total Divas. Young has spoken previously about how Ambrose was hesitant to be part of the reality show.
"Obviously, when we were doing Total Divas, that was kind of an odd thing for us. To try and make him not be Dean Ambrose. You don't get to see how we actually are together," she said. "Parts of it don't seem like it's that bad but you get very protective:"
Young married Ambrose last spring after the pair dated for several years.
She noted one other consequence of her relationship being in the public eye: being the recipient of backlash from fans.
"I've had people say some really horrible things about my character, as a person, that's just like insanity," she said. "I must have a face people don't like or something."
