A new film based on Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker is reportedly in the works.
According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, the film "Killing Gawker" based on the Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker trial is "currently being set up with Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's Artist Equity, eyeing a January 2025 production launch. "
The report states that Affleck is "eying" playing Hogan while Damon would play venture capitalist Peter Thiel.
The screenplay was reportedly written by Charles Randolph and based on the book "Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue" by Ryan Holiday.
Gawker infamously posted the sex tape of Hulk Hogan (real name Terry Bollea) in 2016. Bollea sued Gawker, several Gawker employees and affiliates for posting portions of the tape, which also revealed racist remarks made by Hogan. In 2016, the jury voted in Bollea’s favor and found Gawker liable. He was awarded over $120 million in damages.
Fightful will provide more details on the reported film when they are known.
