Cain Velasquez has reportedly been given clearance to return to the ring.
The former WWE star is out on bail following his arrest for attempted murder on March 2. Velasquez allegedly shot into a vehicle containing Harry Goularte and hit his stepfather, Paul Bender. Goularte had been accused of sexual misconduct with Velasquez's four-year-old son. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was granted bail on November 8. On November 21, Velasquez submitted a motion at an arraignment, hoping to gain the ability to compete at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide's event in Tempe, Arizona, on December 3.
MMA Junkie reports that, at a hearing in Santa Clara County (California) on November 22, a judge granted Velasquez permission to travel to Arizona for the event. As part of the ruling, Velasquez's house confinement restriction will be temporarily lifted so he can make the show.
Despite the terms of his release, the judge ruled that he will not have to be monitored by GPS during the event. Velasquez is set to leave for the show on December 1 and return on December 4. The judge ruled that, due to the absence of his monitoring device, Velasquez will have to hire a police officer for the duration of the trip.
Marc Raimondi of ESPN previously noted that this AAA show is meaningful to Velasquez; the venue, Mullett Arena, is at Arizona State, where Velasquez was a two-time All-American wrester in college.
Velasquez has wrestled at AAA in the past; he was on the card for TripleMania Regia II in December 2021. He was also in action at AAA Invading NY and TripleMania XXVII. During his brief WWE run, he faced Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.
