Jerry Lawler's time as a broadcaster in WWE has come to an end.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that WWE declined to renew Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler's broadcasting. Johnson cites sources who noted that Lawler's deal expired at the beginning of 2024. Lawler has been out of the spotlight, as he has been recovering from the stroke he suffered in February 2023. In an update, Johnson wrote that WWE would still have a Legends Contract, but his broadcasting contract was not re-signed.
Lawler first appeared for WWE in 1992. He was one of the voices of the Attitude Era, as he was part of the broadcast team for Raw and pay-per-view events. Lawler was also involved in various storylines over the years. He left the company in 2001 but returned nine months later. He memorably had a heart attack live on the air during WWE Raw on September 10, 2012. Lawler shifted to a part-time role in later years and made sporadic appearances after a brief return to full-time duties in 2019.
Lawler recently provided an update on his health following his 2023 stroke and stated that it was great. Check out his comments here.
