REPORT: Rey Mysterio In Negotiations With WWE And GFW

Looks like the 619 might be headed back to the 203.

(The 203 is the area code for Stamford, Connecticut, where the home offices of WWE are located.)

Alternatively, the 619 might be debuting in the 407.

(The 407 is the area code for Orlando, Florida, home of the GFW Impact Zone.)

According to a new report in Sports Illustrated, Rey Mysterio Jr, currently on Lucha Underground, is not signed on for any hypothetical as-yet-unannounced 4th season, and once the season 3 finale airs, he would be eligible to sign with any other company (after a 90-day non-compete clause).

Mysterio is reportedly in negotiations with both WWE (where he competed from 2002-2015), and GFW.

GFW is very anxious to move away from the scandal-plagued Alberto El Patron, whom they brought in and immediately made their champion, and the thought is that signing Rey Mysterio would change the narrative for the company.

Meanwhile, WWE is still seeking a big Latino star to replace the last one they let go, who was, ironically, Rey Mysterio.

There's always still the possibility that Lucha Underground could announce a 4th season and swoop in with a huge last minute offer that Rey would be unable to refuse, but that's looking less and less likely.
