Report: Shane McMahon 'Quietly Let Go' By WWE

There goes the money.

Ringside News reports that Shane McMahon has been "quietly let go" by WWE. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has confirmed the report, saying McMahon is "out of the company, it's unknown whether his talent deal was terminated or if the plans for him the next two months were simply dropped."

Meltzer reported on January 31 that McMahon "had a match on the books" for WWE Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania. PWInsider reported that McMahon was "slated to be" a regular on WWE Raw.

Though McMahon wasn't listed internally as a producer for the men's Royal Rumble match, Ringside News reported that McMahon was involved in changes made to the match with Fightful Select reporting "he was heavily involved the match, particularly a lot of the late changes that happened."

McMahon made his return to the ring at Saturday's WWE Royal Rumble, entering the men's Royal Rumble match. McMahon entered at number 28, eliminated Kevin Owens, and was the second runner-up. He was eliminated from the bout by Brock Lesnar.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the status of Shane McMahon as more information is known.
