Report: Shane Strickland Leaving MLW Next Month

Another Independent wrestler could be WWE bound.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Shane Strickland will be leaving MLW following their December tapings. MLW is scheduled to tape two nights of television in Miami on Dec. 13 and 14. Johnson speculates that WWE has been interested in Strickland for quite some time. WWE is expected to announce a new crop of Performance Center signings in January.

MLW has reportedly been preparing for Strickland's departure since their WarGames event in September. Strickland was carried out and unable to complete the WarGames match. Strickland was at the Fightland tapings on Nov. 8, challenging Low Ki for the MLW World Title. Strickland was the first MLW World Champion upon their relaunch earlier this year.

Along with MLW, Strickland also competes under the EVOLVE banner and in Lucha Undergound as the formerly masked Killshot. Strickland lost a Mask vs. Mask match against Son Of Havoc at Lucha Underground's Ultima Lucha Cuatro.  Strickland is a former EVOLVE World Champion who recently lost the belt to Fabian Aichner at EVOLVE 114.

This past weekend at EVOLVE 116, Strickland battled NXT superstar Kassius Ohno in singles competition.
