Wrestlers contracted to Lucha Underground reportedly are growing increasingly uncertain about the future of the promotion.
The Wrestling Observer filed a report on the fears of Lucha Underground talent. Lucha Underground has not taped any content for the program, which airs on the El Rey Network, in approximately a year. And, as the latter portion of Season 3 plays out on television, taping dates for Season 4 have yet to be announced.
The Observer noted that the prevailing sentiment is that El Rey would not cancel Lucha Underground, but also that the show has yet to turn a profit -- or even come close. Lucha Underground owners put up enough money to tape three seasons, but no questions about the future of the show or the promotion beyond Season 3 have been answered -- even internally.
Many of the talent with Lucha Underground have signed seven-season contracts. One exception to that rule is Prince Puma (aka Ricochet), who will become a free agent once all of Season 3 has aired.
Meanwhile, two Lucha Underground talents -- who also are on AAA's roster -- will be part of Impact Wrestling's Slammiversary pay-per-view this Sunday, July 2. Drago and El Hijo del Fantasma (known as King Cuerno in Lucha Underground) will team up in a four-way match for the TNA Tag Titles.
Fightful.com will have live results and discussion of Slammiversary this Sunday. Don't miss it!
