WWE could be planning to make up the missed WrestleMania in Tampa, Florida sooner than expected.
A new report from Inside The Ropes notes that there are tentative plans for Wrestlemania 37 to emanate from Tampa instead of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. These plans have seen WWE “lock down” buildings in Tampa for the potential of Hosting events across WrestleMania weekend. Sources have also echoed the sentiment when speaking with Fightful.
Of course, WrestleMania was supposed to emanate from Tampa, Florida this year but due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic, the weekend of events was canceled and WrestleMania took place pre-taped from an empty WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. WWE would continue to emanate from the Performance Center for every episode of Raw and SmackDown up until the Friday Night SmackDown before SummerSlam, that is when they started the residency at the Amway Center in Orlando to debut WWE ThunderDome.
WWE issued the following comments to Jon Alba of Spectrum News 13 regarding WrestleMania potentially moving:
“We have nothing to report and given the current environment, we continue to monitor locations for all of our potential events.”
WWE has begun running advertisements for WrestleMania in Hollywood on March 28th 2021, but if the show was to move to Florida, it is not certain whether or not the date of March 28th would remain the same. As it was noted on the media call with Triple H prior to NXT TakeOver 31, with so much uncertainty regarding travel and the global pandemic, fluidity is a consistent theme throughout all WWE decisions at this time.
Fightful will continue to monitor the story and report any and all updates.
