Report: Tony Chimel Among Multiple Staff Departures From WWE

WWE reportedly let go of multiple staff on Friday, November 6 with a long-time ring announcer being on the list.

According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, WWE released many behind the scenes staff, though Tony Chimel was one of the names fans of the on-screen product would know.

Chimel was a long-time ring announcer who had been with the company since 1991. Chimel is most associated with his work on WWE SmackDown, specifically with Edge & Christian, though he was also part of WWE ECW during its brief run. He also made cameos on The Edge & Christian Show. In recent years, he had been working as a production manager and helping to oversee the WWE ring crew.

PWInsider also notes that Derek Casselman, who had been the Director of Venue Merchandise, Remote Operations for WWE and had been with the company since 1993, was also let go.

It was not confirmed if these are full releases or if the staff has been furloughed.

Fightful will continue to update fans on the situation as more is known.
