Bateman made his ROH debut on Sept. 28 at Death Before Dishonor Fallout, defeating Jake Atlas with a tombstone piledriver. Bateman would later run-in after a bout between Tracy Williams and Flip Gordon, laying out Williams with a tombstone piledriver.

Following his appearance, Kevin Eck wrote on ROH's website, "Independent wrestlers Tyler Bateman and Jake Atlas, who faced each other at Death Before Dishonor Fallout, both impressed ROH officials and will likely be getting more opportunities in ROH. Bateman made an especially memorable first impression. After defeating Atlas, he came out later during the show and attacked Williams following Williams’ victory over Gordon. Bateman’s motive for targeting Williams remains a mystery."

Bateman is a veteran of the Independent scene, having competed in Bar Wrestling, GCW, Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, DEFY and more. He also competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling in January, taking on Jonathan Gresham at NJPW The New Beginning In USA 2019 in Los Angeles.

ROH has yet to confirm Bateman's signing.
