AEW Dynamite (9/27/23) Results

* AEW International Championship: Rey Fenix (c) def. Jeff Jarrett

- An injured Adam Cole and MJF go fishing aboard his father's boat. They had an enjoyable afternoon until MJF asked Cole about being on the phone with Roderick Strong. MJF puts on his Dynamite Diamond Ring, but he denies that he intended to strike Cole with it when Cole got a whiff of what was happening. Cole claims to have more than one friend who cares about him. They go fishing and catch Captain Insano. Insano joins the party, and they all drink together.

- The Don Callis family is by Renee Paquette. They cut the footage of Takeshita and Callis attacking Kota Ibushi at his own dojo in Japan. Sammy Guevara says he's going to become the champion he was always meant to be without Chris Jericho. Don Callis promises to make everyone cry this Sunday.

- A backstage altercation is shown to be taking place after this past episode of Collision. Sets up a match between Ricky Starks and Wheeler Yuta at AEW WrestleDream.

* Winner Faces Rey Fenix Next Week: Nick Jackson def. Claudio Castagnoli (w/ Wheeler Yuta) vs. Brian Cage (w/ Prince Nana)

- A Righteous vignette airs.

- Adam Cole and MJF come out. Adam Cole has to sit in the chair but announces that he needs to undergo surgery after suffering a broken ankle last week. Adam tries to relinquish the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship. MJF insists on facing Vincent & Dutch at WrestleDream in a handicap match. Roderick Strong appears. He's now in a custom wheelchair. He says he needs Adam right now, and it's an emergency. Adam makes his way up the ramp and leaves with Roddy and the Kingdom.

Suddenly, Jay White shows up and has a verbal confrontation with Max, insisting he will be the next AEW World Champion. Jay says that Max has gone soft, and Max tries to fight him right then and there, but Jay White backs out.

- In a sit-down interview with Jim Ross, Christian Cage and Darby Allin get personal. Christian teases Darby about having beloved people in his life who are dead. Darby says that Christian should leave Luchasaurus away from ringside on Sunday. Christian says Darby hides behind his face paint. Darby takes water, washes it off, and promises to expose Christian on Sunday.

* Orange Cassidy def. Austin Gunn, Matt Jackson, and Penta El Zero Miedo

* Julia Hart def. Willow Nightingale. Willow was more aggressive after being sprayed in the eyes with the black mist. After the match, Julia locked in her submission hold, and Kris Statlander ran down to make the save.

- Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page came down for their contract signing. Hangman openly spoke about feeling like he had a black cloud over his head for the last 18 months. Page promised to give Strickland his best at AEW WrestleDream. Swerve again vowed to take Hangman's spot from him. Swerve smacks him across the face. Security separates them after Hangman stabs Swerve's hand with a pen.

- To close out the show, five men who were concealing their faces attacked Jay White backstage. The last shot of the show was one of the men wearing MJF's devil mask covering the camera as we fade to black
