This is the Fightful.com live coverage for tonight's episode of WWE 205 Live. Tonight a new champion begins his reign after the biggest event of the year WrestleMania this past Sunday night where Cedric Alexander won the finals of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament to become the new WWE Cruiserweight champion. We also have Mark Andrews taking on Drew Gulak and much more so be sure to come back here at 10 PM EST after Smackdown! Live for an hour showcasing the WWE Cruiserweight brand!
-We open the show with a recap of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Finals where Cedric Alexander defeated Mustafa Ali to become the new WWE Cruiserweight champion at WrestleMania this past Sunday night.
Kalisto vs Akira Tozawa
They lock up to start the match before exchanging standing switches and wrist locks before they counter each other by flipping. They run the ropes and Kalisto hits a huricanrrana before playing to the crowd, then they lock up again before countering each other until Akira drops Kalisto with a right hand. Akira drops Kalisto with a forearm before hitting a PK into a senton for a quick two count. Kalisto comes back with a spike huricanrrana before they exchange strikes on the top until Kalisto hits a Spanish fly for a near fall. They exchange forearms until Akira drops Kalisto with a roundhouse kick for a near fall, then Kalisto hits a DVD and a series of kicks before Akira hits a monkey flip that sends Kalisto into the corner.
Kalisto rolls out of the ring when Akira goes up top before hitting a baseball slide and a top to the outside. Akira then rolls Kalisto back into the ring before missing a high angle senton; Kalisto getting his knees up before Kalisto hits the Solida del Sol for the pin and the win.
Winner: Kalisto defeats Akira Tozawa via pinfall with the Solida del Sol.
Mark Andrews vs Drew Gulak
They lock up to start the match before Mark hits a series of arm drags that sends Drew out of the ring. Drew gets back in the ring and Mark kicks Drew repeatedly before Drew grounds the high flyer, then Drew goes for the dragon sleeper, but Mark counters and hits a bulldog. Drew sends Mark into the ring post and to the floor before he gets back in the ring and hits Drew starts focusing on the neck of Mark. Drew hits a backbreaker before Mark fights out of a cross face chicken wing, then Mark hits a 619 into a springboard cross body and a standing moonsault for a near fall. Mark gets a near fall off of a crucifix pin before Gulak hits a lariat to the back of the neck of Mark for a near fall.
Mark then hits the Slumdog Millionaire before Drew locks in the dragon sleeper for the tap and the win.
Winner: Drew Gulak defeats Mark Andrews via submission with a dragon sleeper.
-After the match Drew reapplies the dragon sleeper before Tony Nese comes out and saves him as we go to commercial.
-Drake Maverick comes out and talks about how proud he is of the 205 Live roster before introducing the new WWE Cruiserweight champion Cedric Alexander. Cedric talks about winning the belt and what it means to him and talks about his career in the WWE, from the Cruiserweight Classic to him being signed to 205 Live and his journey to becoming the WWE Cruiserweight champion. Mustafa Ali comes out to the ring and congratulates Cedric as the crowd chants for them to have one more match before saying that he is owed rematch only to be interrupted by Buddy Murphy who attacks Cedric from behind with Murphy's Law before leaving as we go off the air.
